The theme of 2014's SSC was "Chaos containment". The event's quests provided a strong storyline involving the ever-present danger of Chaos spreading throughout the land by introducing a new regional organization called the Ostiarium, which concerns itself with the containment and eventual reversal of the Corruption of Chaos.

As a result of the storyline's completion, the energies of Chaos are now contained with a series of wardstones placed around the perimeter of the Corruption. The portal leading to Chaos on Phtom Island is now also contained within a wardstone, thus ending the threat of further corruption on the island.
