Does SMF do an RSS feed of recent posts? I am looking at enhancing http://apps.facebook.com/alteraeon/ with event log but it would be cool to add "recent forum posts" too.

I honestly don't know.  I was supposed to take a look at the various SMF modules and add-ons, but I haven't had time to do it yet.  I need to spend a week or so doing PR and web shit.
