Ok, first its nice and quick - the map is neat, if a little small compared to map command. The colors seem to be a little dark, and on my CRT monitor of 20 years old, the colors are hard to see.
Buttons are nice, I just wish they were programmable. I miss echo inside the editor.

The map size can be changed, look under the 'view' menu. You can make it pretty damned big if you want.
Programmable buttons should be possible.
Echo inside the editor would help me as well. I like being able to see some history of what I've typed in the past.

Define exactly what you mean by compass, and I'll think about it; a couple of examples, possibly in different styles, would be helpful.

Instead of the directions being on the lower part of the screen you have a compass to the top right, hope this formats correctly:
NW N NE W <-----(a)-----> E - S -
Explains itself, you can go NW, N, NE, W, E and S, but not SE or SW.
Say of the door south was locked or closed you would get this send:
NW N NE W <-----(a)-----> E - # -
Hash key as a locked door.
As for up, down, climb and jump it could be like this:
NW N NE W <-c-u-(a)-d-j-> E SW S SE

Have you been on any of the ships Draak etc built? They have
bow port starboard aft
as exits - may be a bit of mucking around but they basically equate to N S E W exits too.

having a tab somewhere on the client, probably at the bottom of the map window telling the player where in the world they're at would be nice. like: 'Kobold camp, Island of Sole' 'Grae Keep, North Continent' 'Ignora Trench, southeast mainland'
This might not be possible though.

Germs, that's actually not a bad idea. I'll see if it makes sense to do.
